Link Status Checking

Link checking can be used to automatically check the status of a bookmark.

To use link checking, it must first be turned on. There are two ways to turn this on and off

  • Click on button in the Multi-Tag box. It will turn to when turned on.
  • This may also be turned on in the Display Preferences screen.

Once turned on, any bookmark that is tagged for link checking will be checked.

The interval between link checks can be set in the Display Preferences to

  • Weekly
  • Monthly

When using link checking, pages will take more time to download. Link checking should be turned off when not actively being used to speed up access to MURL.

Once link checking is turned on, bookmarks must be tagged for checking. There is a new checkbox in the edit screen for each bookmark. Simply select the checkmark for any bookmark to be checked. All bookmarks in a folder can be turned on or off by selecting this value in the edit screen for a folder.

The state of a link can be seen in more detail on the edit screen.

    Status Meaning
  • Link OK.
  • Status is Undetermined
  • Link is Dead
  • Link Status Unknown
